Faw Cafe

Location: İstanbul,Turkey

The aim of this project is to design a café interior with a retro character, inspired by Cihangir’s bohemian and time-worn spirit.

The marble bar counter positioned at the heart of the space, together with its walnut-veneered front, creates a strong and timeless focal point through its natural texture. The opal glass pendant lights above the bar cast a soft glow throughout the space, enhancing its nostalgic atmosphere. The patterned glass used at the upper level of the joinery partition separating the interior and exterior makes a deliberate reference to the 1980s.

The aged paint technique applied to the wall surfaces was developed specifically for the space in collaboration with a painter, creating controlled imperfections and layered textures on the surfaces. This approach supports the space in gaining a time-worn, lived-in character.

A sustainable design approach is emphasized through the use of selected furniture from different periods. The elliptical vintage table enhances the spatial flow, while chairs and tables from various eras give the cafe a dynamic and lively character. The bar seating oriented toward the backyard establishes a strong visual and physical connection between the interior and exterior spaces.”

Faw Cafe presents a simple yet characterful café experience that belongs to Cihangir.
